Leeds United are still unsure about their goalkeeping situation next season as they continue to consider several scenarios this summer.

The Whites have been heavily linked with a move for Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, who impressed at the World Cup and has Aston Villa as one of his other suitors.

Leeds have held talks with Suzuki and his representative, and are seriously considering making a move to sign him from Parma in the ongoing summer transfer window.

However, the Whites cannot make a serious move until they get clarification on Karl Darlow’s future, and the Welshman has yet to decide whether to sign a new deal with Leeds.

Leeds are still competing with Manchester United and Everton for Karl Darlow

Karl Darlow replaced Lucas Perri as Leeds United’s first-choice goalkeeper midway through last season and went on to establish himself as one of the Whites’ most reliable performers in the Premier League.

Leeds have been confident about the Welshman signing a new two-year contract. However, as things stand, he is no longer a contracted player at Elland Road.

His contract expired at the end of June, and the Welshman is now a free agent, with several options on his table.

According to The Daily Mail, Darlow has offers from Leeds, Manchester United and Everton on his table as he weighs up his future.

The Welshman has yet to decide, with Leeds feeling that he is likely to extend his stay at Elland Road this summer.

At Everton and Manchester United, he is likely to be the backup goalkeeper, while at Leeds, he is almost certain to start as the number 1.

However, he is likely to earn more money at Manchester United, and that could be a contributing factor, as it could be the last major contract of his career.

Leeds can’t wait forever

Karl Darlow took over from Lucas Perri midway through last season and quickly established himself as one of Leeds United’s most dependable performers during the second half of the campaign.

The Whites are keen to keep hold of the Welshman after the composure and stability he brought to the position. His performances convinced many that he was a more reliable option than Perri.

At the same time, Leeds cannot afford to let the situation drag on. The club have already identified targets such as Zion Suzuki and are eager to press ahead with their transfer plans.

While Leeds would like Darlow to stay, they also need clarity. They cannot risk missing out on a goalkeeper of Suzuki’s calibre by waiting indefinitely for a decision on the Welshman’s future.

If he was interested he would have signed by now. Just say goodbye and get on with sorting out a replacement. we cannot afford to hang around this early in the window.
