Leeds United U23 captain Charlie Cresswell wants first-team football

Leeds United have got a plethora of exciting young talent rising through the ranks at Under 23 level, one such player is 18 year old Charlie Cresswell.

Cresswell signed a new deal at Leeds that should keep him at the club until 2025, and the future is certainly bright for the young man. The centre back always looks confident and assured on the ball, something that is becoming essential in modern football and especially for a Marcelo Bielsa team.

In a recent interview with LUTV, Cresswell admitted “My targets for the next few years are to try and get into the first-team eventually, but in this moment I have to push every day to the best of my ability and hopefully that takes me somewhere.”

He shared that from the current crop of players in the senior squad, he looks up to captain Liam Cooper and vice-captain Luke Ayling the most. “There are lots of players I look up to in the first-team like Liam Cooper and Luke Ayling, they lead by example and that is what I want to try and follow.”

There’s a very bright future ahead for the Under 23s captain, and if anyone is able to unearth that potential it would be Marcelo Bielsa.
