“Leeds will be…” – Gary Neville drops worrying Leeds claim ahead of Tottenham clash

West Ham failing to get a result at home to Arsenal on Sunday, means that Leeds United are mathematically safe in the Premier League. In the buildup to this weekend, it was expected that this could happen.

The Whites went on a four-game unbeaten run coming from the last international break. This pushed them up the table, and now the team are in 16th place with 43 points. Because the Hammers lost, there is no way Daniel Farke’s side will be relegated now. And heading into Monday’s game the burden will be on Tottenham to get a result at home. Leeds will be eager to finish higher up the table due to the merit payment they could earn from the Premier League.

Gary Neville gives Spurs vs Leeds United verdict

Spurs are just one point above West Ham in the table with two games to go. If they do managed to get something out of the Leeds United game, then they have something to build on in the final matches of the season. Gary Neville said on the Gary Neville podcast that Sunday’s results did not help West Ham in their fight for survival.

“Leeds might be free as a bird tomorrow night and play beautifully.

“They came to Old Trafford a few weeks ago under pressure, and they played absolutely incredibly to beat Manchester United 2-0.

“Will tonight Leeds United go to bed and just relax? And wake up in the morning and be a bit more chill?

“It’s a battle, it’s a massive event for these clubs to stay in the Premier League after coming up from the Championship.

“West Ham’s Premier League status is in the hands of a Leeds United side who are safe, and that’s not helpful.”

Leeds must stay focused ahead of Monday night’s game

Leeds are now safe and guaranteed a place in the Premier League next season. But like Noah Okafor said this past week, the club have only been focused on themselves and getting results at the end of the campaign. They have not cared about other results and that has served them well in their fight for survival. Going into Monday night, they are in good form and on an unbeaten run; they need to keep the focus and competitiveness. Spurs will come into Monday night’s game fighting to get something, so Daniel Farke and his players must not underestimate them.
