Shocking news hit Leeds United last night when Man United expressed interest in Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Michael Carrick’s side had highlighted the striker as a major target for the upcoming January transfer window. The club were looking at options after striker Benjamin Sesko’s injury timeline changed.
The Slovenian has been struggling since he picked up an injury at the end of last season.Carrick’s side have not been able to get a suitable backup for him, and have ended up playing other stars out of position to accommodate that.
Leeds drew with Man United at Elland Road over a week ago, leading to crisis talks at Old Trafford.
After their 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth, the Red Devils have decided to keep Carrick in charge for the near future.
But the club are eyeing an active January window as they hope to rescue this season.

Leeds United have had an impressive start to the campaign, with 11 points from eight games so far. They sit in seventh place, with Farke and his men happy with their current situation.
Over at Man United, things keep going from bad to worse. They are winless since August and have only seven points.
After their news emerged about Calvert-Lewin, Leeds United sources revealed that the striker will not leave the club. Rumours emerged about a new contract, and an update has followed on Friday.
According to BBC Sport Chief Football reporter Simon Stone, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is set to sign a new contract with Leeds.
This news ultimately rules out an exit in January, with Man United set to look elsewhere. As things stand, there is no word on when the new deal will be announced, the contract length or if the player will get a pay rise.

Right decision by the 49ers
Signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin was considered a gamble by people outside Leeds United. It took a lot of convincing from the ownership and Daniel Farke to bring the striker on board.
Fans were even doubting the deal because of his reported wages and injury record.
But since last season, Calvert-Lewis has proved his worth, carrying the goalscoring burden for the club. This stint has been refreshing for the former Everton man, who is back in the England fold and can put himself among the best strikers in the Premier League.
A new contract has been earned and is well deserved. A great transfer coup by all parties involved.
