“I can play under any manager” – Weston McKennie on Jesse Marsch’s sacking

Leeds United new boy Weston McKennie says Jesse Marsch’s sacking was surprising but he is at the club to fit in regardless of the coach.

The American arrived at Elland Road in January, joining on a loan deal from Juventus. He made his debut against Nottingham Forest, and made his first start against Man United on Wednesday.

McKennie was vital in Leeds’ aggressive pressing as they managed to hold on to a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford. After the game he spoke to the media about Jesse Marsch’s dismissal.

“I think for me, it was probably the quickest manager change that I’ve had. But obviously as a football player and moving away from home at an early stage and the stuff that I went through in my life, it’s something that’s not new,” he responded.

“I was ready for it and obviously I know my game and how I can play under any manager and hopefully moving forward we’ll find someone that fits as well.”

The midfielder will be hoping Wednesday night’s result will be a catalyst for the rest of the season. Leeds welcome Man United to Elland Road on Sunday.
