According to Phil Hay of The Athletic, no deal is in place between Leeds United and Genk over Joseph Paintsil.
Leeds United have been eyeing a move to sign Genk attacker Joseph Paintsil as the club look to strengthen their squad as they fight for promotion back to the Premier League. The Whites have brought in a number of key signings since last week after a slow start to the transfer window. The only permanent deals for Leeds so far have been Karl Darlow, Ethan Ampadu and Joel Piroe.
Moves for Nadiem Amiri, Luke Thomas and Lewis O’Brien are being discussed as the transfer deadline draws closer.
Amiri and Paintsil deals presently at a stand-still.
Amiri was in Leeds for talks yesterday but no medical yet and now back in Germany.
Financial wrangling between Paintsil/Genk has stopped that bid moving forward.

However, an update from The Athletic reveals that there is currently no agreement in place for Joseph Paintsil. According to the report, Leeds are ready to pay £10million for Paintsil but financial wrangling between the player and Genk over bonuses potentially owed to him has caused interest from Elland Road to stall. The Ghanaian international is pushing to secure a reported loyalty bonus before he completes any transfer away from the Belgian club.
Journalist Santi Aouna also confirmed this on X, stating:
‘Leeds and Genk have an agreement for the transfer of Joseph Paintsil. The player has an agreement in personal terms. But the agent and the player arguing with Genk over a Loyalty Payment.”
