Leeds United eased into the third round of the EFL Cup with another win over Nottingham Forest, this time securing a comfortable 2-0 victory at the City Ground.
Dan James opened the scoring after the break before James Justin added a second to put Daniel Farke’s side firmly in control and seal their place in the next round.
It was Leeds’ second victory over Forest in just three days, following their 1-0 win in Saturday’s Premier League opener at the same venue.
Forest will be hugely disappointed to lose at home to Leeds twice in such a short space of time, but they never really did enough to trouble the visitors or justify taking anything from the game.

Forest legend ’embarrassed’ after Leeds United defeat
Former Nottingham Forest star Rob Earnshaw has conceded that Oliver Glasner would be disappointed to see his team lose to the same team twice in three days at home.
He feels the manager is likely to be embarrassed by what he saw from the team, especially in the second half, and insisted that Leeds looked the more confident side and deserved to get the result.
Earnshaw said on ITV: “I think Oliver Glasner will be really disappointed. Two games at home against the same team in a matter of days.
“They obviously lose both games, but they are his first games in charge, and they have failed to score in both games.
“It’s not the ideal start. I think Glasner will be a bit embarrassed after watching that second half.
“The first half they were off and you thought they would come out and create more in the second half, but they actually went backwards.
“Leeds were the more confident team and deserved the win.”

Leeds fans will now want a solid end to the summer transfer window
Leeds supporters will be hoping the team’s strong start to the season gives the club’s owners the motivation to finish the transfer window with a statement signing or two.
The Whites are still looking to add a goalkeeper, another striker and a left-back, while they could also look to strengthen at centre-back and on the wing.
Chelsea have already rejected two loan offers from Leeds for Mykhailo Mudryk, but the Whites have not completely abandoned the idea of bringing the Ukrainian to Elland Road and could still try to revive talks before the September 1 deadline.
With the window entering its final days, Leeds fans will be hoping the club can get a few more deals over the line and finish what has already been an ambitious summer on a high.
