Patrick Bamford left Leeds United under strained circumstances in the summer after his contract was brought to an end, but the forward has since rediscovered his form under Chris Wilder at Sheffield United.
The 32-year-old initially signed a short-term deal with the Championship outfit in November and made an instant impression at Bramall Lane, scoring five goals in 10 league appearances.
Wilder was eager to secure Bamford’s services on a longer-term basis after just a couple of games, and Sheffield United opened talks with his representatives.
Ipswich Town made a move to sign the striker, and a few more Championship clubs were also interested. However, ahead of the FA Cup game against Mansfield Town last weekend, Bamford signed an extension with the Blades.

In a big show of confidence in the striker, Sheffield United have signed him up until the end of next season.
Patrick Bamford takes a dig at Leeds United and Daniel Farke
It seems Bamford is still not over the way Farke and Leeds treated him in the summer before terminating his contract towards the end of the last transfer window.
He insisted that at Sheffield United, he has felt comfortable and happy, which in turn has brought out the best in him on the pitch. He has been a top marksman for the Blades in the Championship.
Speaking to official club media, Bamford said: “Since I got here, I have felt really comfortable and happy.
“I think you always play your best football when you are in a position and place where you are happy.”
Bamford also thanked the Sheffield United fans for welcoming him with open arms after what he experienced at Leeds over the summer window.
When asked about the reception from the Sheffield United fans, he said: “The fact that I have come from their Yorkshire rival and everything that happened over the summer, it’s nice that they have welcomed me with open arms.
“It’s up to me repay that and push the team where we want to be.”
Bamford was treated poorly in the summer
Bamford struggled to remain fit in the Championship last season, and Farke had every reason not want him in the squad for the Premier League.
However, the way Leeds and the German went about their business in the summer left a bitter taste in the striker’s mouth, and even Leeds supporters found it hard to stomach.
Given what Bamford has achieved in a Leeds shirt, he deserved a bit more respect than being made to train with the Under-21s and getting his contract cancelled at the business end of the summer window.
The striker didn’t even receive a chance to bid farewell to the Leeds fans and was more or less shoved out of the back door of the club.
Bamford has now every right to feel miffed at Leeds and Farke, and these wounds may take some time to heal before the relationship between the club and their former player is normal again.
And it looks like they are doing the same to Piroe. He got us promoted with his goals last season and not been given the chance in the Premier.
He’s too slow for the prem! Even stevie wonder can see that!
Leeds owed bamford nothing. He massively contributed to Leeds going down. Good riddance
