‘The sky is the limit’ for Leeds’ Summerville, says Daniel Farke

With 16 goals and 9 assists to his name across all competitions, Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville has without doubt proven himself one of his side’s most important players so far this season.

In a side which is brimming with young talent, including fellow winger Willy Gnonto, midfielder Georginio Rutter and right-back Archie Gray – Summerville arguably stands the best of the bunch, with his pace, technicality and penchant for a deadly finish proving a nightmare for Championship defences to contend with.

After a turbulent summer for the Whites in which the talented Dutchman’s future in West Yorkshire was up in the air, Summerville has responded in the best possible manner: by knuckling down, working hard, and giving his side the best possible chance of success in their automatic promotion push.

Summerville’s most recent contribution in a Leeds shirt came in the Whites’ 4-0 dismantling of Swansea City on Tuesday evening, with the 22-year-old opening the scoring for his side with a deflected effort.

‘The sky is the limit’ for hard-working Summerville

The consistently impressive nature of Summerville’s performances have not evaded the attention of Leeds boss Daniel Farke, who took the reins at Elland Road last summer.

In a recent interview with Sky Sports, the German was quick to recognise the quality of the winger’s displays this term, but claims to be even more impressed with the manner in which he has conducted himself off the pitch.

“His performances and end product, but also his willingness to work for the team, have been outstanding.

“To deliver in this league you have to be on it more or less each and every day on the training pitch, and that is what he’s doing.

“It is no coincidence that he has provided so many decisive goals and assists.

“We don’t have to speak about his potential, because for Cry the sky is the limit. But to show consistency, that is quite crucial.”

High-flying Summerville crucial for the Whites this season

Whilst the quality of Summerville’s performances for Leeds have rightfully gained him many plaudits this season, Farke’s testament to the Dutchman’s positive, hard-working attitude is perhaps worthy of even higher praise than his performances on the field of play.

After all, the attributes of effort, grit, and passion are ones desired in players by football fans the world over, with Leeds supporters being no different.

This combination of ability as well as the desire to apply it is one which is certainly serving his side well currently, and the Elland Road faithful will be hoping for Summerville’s red-hot form to continue in order to give their beloved club the best chance of returning to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
