Despite the complaints from the fanbase in the summer, Leeds United came into this campaign with little depth in the front line. Unlike last season where there were a few options, this season has been very disappointing.
Up top, Leeds brought in Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha, and even though the duo have delivered on the pitch, the team seems to need more firepower. The only other striker in the team has been Joel Piroe, who has been a shell of himself since last season. Piroe has just one goal in all competitions, which is a surprise considering he was top scorer last season.
And it is not only up front, the wide attackers this season have been massive disappointments; Manor Solomon and Dan James were among the goals but now there seems to be a strong lack of it. Dan James, Wilfried Gnonto and Noah Okafor have not been good enough in front of goal.
Bundesliga star open to Leeds United switch
Per reports from last month, the 49ers are keen on adding firepower to the team in the summer. They believe that they need more options if they want to compete at a high level. BILD has now revealed that Daniel Farke and Leeds have serious interest in Hoffenheim forward Haris Tabakovic. The striker has 11 goals in the Bundesliga this season.
When Tabakovic was asked about potential summer transfer plans, he said there has been nothing concrete: “There are no talks, that’s all there is to say,” said Tabakovic.
“For me, the only thing that counts now is to give everything for the club in the last six games, and then I’m looking forward to the World Cup.”
Leeds are not the only club interested as Lille are said to be keen on the 31-year old. There is no indication that Hoffenheim would be against selling him this summer, and so the door may be open for the 49ers. Tabakovic is 6ft5 and is good in the air, and can finish with both feet. He is the exact profile the club has been after, seeing how they pursued Jorgen Strand Larsen in January.

Leeds need more firepower
This season has been a very disappointing one when it comes to goalscoring. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the top scorer with 10 goals in all competitions and Lukas Nmecha is second. Outside the duo, the club have not had any prolific players and the team has suffered for it. In games the Whites could have easily won this season, they miss chances, which affect the result. The 49ers must quickly address the problems up top, which could be more complicated ahead of the summer. With Joel Piroe possibly on his way out, it makes the search for a new forward even more important to the club.
