Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams revealed that he is still recovering from a knock he picked up during the 2022 World Cup.
Adams missed Leeds training session due to a calf knock he picked up on international duty during the USA’s World Cup defeat to the Netherlands. The 23-year old participated in the open training session at Elland Road, but trained away from the squad. He observed the training as the rest of the team took part.
The midfielder explains that his absence was only due to recovery:
“I just had a little bit of a knock in the last game against the Netherlands, just in my calf,”
“Just coming back from that a little bit, but not bothering me anymore. I feel good, feel sharp. I would be training, but Jesse’s saying take all the time you need if you can right now it’s an opportunity.”
Adams on playing at the World Cup
The midfielder featured in every game for the USA, he explained that it took a huge toll on him physically:
“Four games played, I played every minute and they were very demanding games,” he said. “You leave everything out there on the field.
“After that, I got seven days to mentally shut off a little bit, but still the body was catching up to everything when I came back. The coach and the medical staff have given me a couple more days extra.
“Obviously I’m suspended against Man City as well. So I’ve been doing a little bit of individual work to stay sharp, but yes, I’m catching up, catching up.”
Jesse Marsch has instructed the youngster to take time off to recover. Adams will miss next weekend’s game against Manchester City due to suspension, but there is hope he will feature after that game.
