Worse than Trafford: Leeds star delivers another anonymous performance at Bournemouth

Leeds United had a difficult afternoon at the Vitality Stadium, with several players struggling to make an impression as Daniel Farke’s side lost 2-0 against Bournemouth.

James Trafford will inevitably attract plenty of criticism after his costly error helped set up the opening goal. James Kluivert intercepted the goalkeeper’s underhit pass, then squared it for Evanilson to finish.

It was an avoidable mistake from Leeds’ record signing, but he was not the only player who failed to deliver. In fact, another summer arrival had an equally frustrating afternoon, and his lack of impact in the attacking third is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.

Harry Wilson fails to make an impact again for Leeds

While Trafford was directly responsible for Bournemouth’s opener, Harry Wilson offered very little at the other end of the pitch.

The Welshman arrived at Elland Road with considerable expectations after an excellent campaign with Fulham last season. Leeds had secured his services on a free transfer, and there was genuine excitement about what he could bring to Farke’s attack.

However, Wilson is yet to register a goal or an assist in the Premier League since joining Leeds, and his performance against Bournemouth did little to suggest that his fortunes are about to change.

He struggled to influence play in the final third, offering little creativity or attacking threat. His set-piece delivery was also disappointing, with the winger wasting a promising free-kick opportunity shortly before half-time by sending his effort high over the crossbar.

The narrative could have been a little different had James Justin finished a good chance Wilson created after the hour mark.

For a player brought in to provide quality in the final third, those are the moments when he needs to make a difference. Instead, Wilson once again left Leeds supporters waiting for a meaningful contribution.

Wilson running out of time to justify Leeds move

There is no question about Wilson’s ability. His performances for Fulham last season showed he can be a dangerous attacking player in the Premier League, capable of scoring goals and creating chances.

But Leeds did not sign him based on what he achieved at Craven Cottage. They brought him in to reproduce that quality at Elland Road, and so far, he has struggled to deliver.

Farke has shown faith in the winger, but patience cannot last indefinitely when the attacking returns remain so poor. Leeds need players who can produce decisive moments, particularly in games where they are struggling to break opponents down.

Trafford’s mistake will rightly come under scrutiny, but Wilson cannot keep escaping criticism simply because his errors are less obvious.

The Welshman has the quality to turn things around, but the longer he goes without a goal or assist, the more questions will be asked about whether Leeds have actually signed the player they thought they were.

His Fulham form created the hype. Now he needs to start living up to it.

We are still in need of a good nos 10 and a goalscorer, this was a fatal mistake before last transfer window, we are not scoring enough goals!
