Leeds United secured a vital point away against Bournemouth last night to take their tally for the season to 40 points.
Sean Longstaff’s 97th-minute equaliser sent the away end into raptures as the substitute scored an exceptional volley to ensure that the Whites did not travel back to West Yorkshire empty-handed.
Perhaps more satisfying for Leeds fans was seeing Tyler Adams being forced to eat some humble pie after the American was spotted goading the away end after Bournemouth went 2-1 up.
A former Chelsea player also gave his verdict on the dramatic game last night, with the Blues’ legend being forced to concede how impressive Leeds have been recently.
Jason Cundy praises Leeds for impressive result against Bournemouth
Longstaff’s stoppage-time heroics will only increase the morale of Daniel Farke’s squad even further as they gear up to take on Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley this weekend.
Speaking after the game on talkSPORT, Cundy was full of praise for Leeds amid their recent good form, with United being unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions.
“Leeds seem to really enjoy playing. I saw them against Man Utd, and they were absolutely outrageously good. They were so good in that game, and in the end, they came away with three deserved points.
“Tonight they did well to get a point at Bournemouth, but that performance against Man Utd tells me they know what they are doing.”
Cundy then turned his attention to the upcoming semi-final, with Leeds now set to face off against a Chelsea side that has recently sacked their manager, Liam Rosenior.
“On Sunday, it’s a big game. We have Callum McFarlane (as manager) for that game, but something had to change. I am a bit concerned about the game. Leeds have beaten us at their place and drawn at Stamford Bridge this season. We do owe them one.”

Data suggests Gabriel Gudmundsson was excellent against Bournemouth
Gudmundsson, 26, has quickly established himself as one of Leeds’ best players, with the Swede being excellent in recent weeks as United have been on their magnificent run.
Before the Bournemouth game, some Leeds fans were anxious that Farke did not rest key players, such as Gudmundsson, ahead of their trip to Wembley.
Ultimately, this decision paid off, with only Jayden Bogle picking up a knock as Leeds secured a point that effectively guarantees their Premier League status for next season.
Gudmundsson put in another stellar performance against Bournemouth, with Leeds fans hoping the defender can replicate this at Wembley.
- Gudmundsson was a threat offensively, providing one key pass and finishing the game with an expected assists of 0.44
- Defensively, he was superb, winning both of the tackles he entered during the game as well as notching eight defensive contributions in total
- Out of the 14 duels Gudmundsson entered, the Swedish international won eight of them (Sofascore)
If Leeds are to cause an upset at Wembley, they will need the likes of Gudmundsson to be at their very best, with the Whites just two games away from FA Cup glory.
