Leeds United have to bounce back from the disappointment last Sunday as they are back in Premier League action. The Whites are at Elland Road on Friday night as they host Burnley.
The defeat to Chelsea ended the club’s FA Cup run abruptly, and fans are not really pleased as they felt they had a real chance. But for this upcoming game, Daniel Farke’s men can almost seal their place in the Premier League next season. The club are currently just six points above Spurs in 18th place with four games to go. And after the London club picked up a win last week, the picture at the bottom has changed once again.
Burnley on the other hand have been relegated after their defeat to Manchester City last week. And reports have emerged that Clarets boss Scott Parker could be replaced heading into next season. So the situation at Turf Moor is not stable heading into this Friday.
Leeds star ruled out after major injury
The FA Cup semi-final would have taken a lot out of the Leeds players. They played at a very high intensity, and unfortunately for them some players have suffered as a result.
Daniel Farke has confirmed in Wednesday’s press conference that Gabriel Gudmundsson has suffered a major injury and could miss the next two games.
”Hamstring injury, it’s a bit of a serious injury. He’ll definitely miss Friday and probably the Tottenham game, then we’ll have to see. We try to bring him back as quick as possible, I hope he can feature in one of the final two games.”

Huge blow for Daniel Farke
Losing Gabriel Gudmundsson is a huge blow for the team. As things stand, there is no natural left footed left back in the squad. And Daniel Farke’s preference for using James Justin at center back could complicate things. Gudmundsson provides a lot of stability and ball progression down the left flank so losing him would be unfortunate. Player injuries at this point of the season is not great news. Farke will be hoping that he does not suffer anymore casualties ahead of such an important game. The Burnley game is not going to be straightforward, so Leeds cannot afford to be complacent. They have to know that getting a result could put them in the clear and guarantee another season in the top flight.
