Leeds United still have a few weeks to go till the end of the season, but it is clear this summer will be a busy one. There may be a lot of moving parts when the transfer window comes around.
The Whites allowed multiple players to leave on temporary deals including Mateo Joseph, Largie Ramazani, Jack Harrison and Max Wober. News emerging this past few weeks shows that it is unlikely that all these players get permanent moves away from the club. Daniel Farke’s recent comments on Joseph’s future hint that the Spaniard may leave the club in the coming months.
If nothing changes in the next few weeks, the Whites could have up to five players returning to Elland Road still under contract with the club, but not in the team’s future plans.
Daniel Farke gives major Leeds contract update
The issue of player contracts is also something to keep an eye on at Elland Road. There are a few players set to be out of contract at the end of the season. Others are also entering the final year of their contracts.
This week, Farke gave an update on Karl Darlow’s future, saying that the keeper and other players’ futures will be discussed down the line.
“Like I said about the future, we’ll just speak once everything is confirmed – about futures, about our recruitment, about goalkeepers, outfield players, staff members, whatever,” Farke said, via the YEP.
“But how much I trust Karl and value Karl, you could tell by the fact that he was in the crunch-time last season in that he is right now in such a period my number one goalkeeper. And also keeps out a highly-rated player like Lucas Perri who has been impressive in the cup with some decent performances.”

Whites need to resolve goalkeeping situation
Alex Cairns, Illan Meslier and Karl Darlow are all out of contract this summer. And if the club does not choose to renew any of them, that would leave Lucas Perri as the only first team keeper at the club under contract. This would mean the club would have to dip into the market to find options. Darlow has recently been linked with a move to Tottenham, who are looking for a home-grown keeper. Perri has impressed in the FA Cup, but there is nothing to show that Leeds are confident in him being first choice again next season. Whatever happens, the Whites will be busy in the transfer market looking at potential signings in goal.
