Leeds United have reached 40 points in the Premier League and, although safety is not mathematically confirmed, it would take a significant collapse for them to get dragged back into a relegation battle.

With survival almost guaranteed, attention is already turning to the summer, when the club is expected to be active in the transfer market.

Leeds have been heavily linked with a move for midfielders and forwards. However, the Whites are also eyeing defenders and are keen to snap up Union Berlin centre-back Danilho Doekhi.

However, Leeds are now facing the prospect of moving on players who have been a big part of their success in recent years, and a top player has been tipped to leave Elland Road.

Joe Rodon tipped to move on from Leeds United

The Daily Mirror has looked ahead to the 2026/27 season for Leeds and has predicted how the squad will shape up in the upcoming transfer window.

Leeds are interested in signing Doekhi, and Wolves centre-back Santiago Bueno has also been linked with a move to Elland Road in the summer.

If Doekhi and Bueno end up at Leeds, it has been claimed that Joe Rodon would be allowed to move on from the club in the upcoming transfer window.

The Welshman recently returned to the squad following an injury layoff and is likely to be in the starting eleven tonight against Burnley at Elland Road.

However, it has been suggested that if Leeds strengthen their defence, Rodon is the likely player who would be sacrificed in the upcoming summer transfer window.

He has been a rock for Leeds at the back and played a huge role in getting them promoted to the Premier League. However, he is now being tipped to make way for new signings.

Can Leeds sell another defender?

Leeds are already well covered at centre-back, with at least four players competing for places, and James Justin is also able to fill in there when needed.

At 27, Doekhi is unlikely to join a club where he is not guaranteed a starting role, especially after playing every minute of Bundesliga football over the past two seasons. As things stand, it is not clear who he would replace on the current side.

Jaka Bijol has been outstanding this season, and Daniel Farke would be reluctant to part with Pascal Struijk unless a huge offer came in.

Sebastiaan Bornauw has struggled for game time, and while he could leave, he is not a regular starter anyway.

If Leeds are serious about bringing Doekhi in on a free transfer this summer, they may need to sell one of their first-choice defenders to make it work.

And at this stage, it seems Rodon is the man who could make way for the Dutchman.
