This week could define Leeds United’s season; after the result at the Vitality Stadium, the club have a crucial game at Wembley. They meet Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final.

Many were surprised that the Whites made it this far, considering that Daniel Farke rarely makes cup competitions his priority. But this time around, Leeds managed to make it from the third round all the way to the last four. Things became very clear after they managed to beat West Ham at the London stadium, with the fans overjoyed that they would be playing at Wembley for the first time in over 35 years.

Expert predicts Leeds vs Chelsea FA Cup semi-final

Going into the semi-final, both teams are coming into the game with contrasting form. Leeds are unbeaten in their last four games in all competitions and are confident ahead of Sunday. Chelsea on the other hand, have not won a game since their 7-0 win over Port Vale in the quarter-final. The Blues sacked Liam Rosenior midweek, and will have interim manager Calum McFarlane in the dugout at Wembley.

It is not very clear as to who has the advantage heading into the semi-final. But Marcus Speller believes that Leeds have the edge and could spring a surprise when Sunday comes around.

“If you think about the form and general feeling, I quite fancy Leeds for this. Leeds would have rather had Liam Rosenior in the opposite dugout, quite obviously, because the doom and gloom would have been there.”

Former Premier League striker Alan Shearer has also backed the Whites to make the final, with every pundit seemingly doubting Chelsea after the events of the past few days.

Game could go either way

Despite many predictions making it look like the Whites have the advantage, the game could really go either way. Chelsea have the quality and depth to make the game very difficult on Sunday. Regardless of the level of the interim manager in the dugout, it is the players on the pitch who will decide the game, and on paper the Blues have a better group. Leeds are no pushovers either, they have taken four points off Chelsea in the Premier League for good reason. Daniel Farke’s tactics are able to get results. And if he is able to get things right on Sunday, Leeds fans will be on their way to Wembley for the final.
