This weekend sees Leeds United face Chelsea for a place in the FA Cup final. Both teams have made an impressive effort in the domestic competition this campaign.
It came as a surprise that the Whites have gotten so far, considering their history in cup games under Farke. But this season, things have gone their way and they reached the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley for the first time in over 35 years. And now that the club have removed themselves from the relegation battle, making the final is a realistic target.
Chelsea on the other hand, enter this weekend after a very horrible week. The club lost 3-0 to Brighton, which saw Liam Rosenior fired. The Blues have not won a game since the FA Cup quarter-final against Port Vale. Interim boss Calum McFarlane will be in the dugout at Wembley this weekend.
Former Chelsea man gives verdict on Leeds FA Cup semi-fina
There is a lot at stake heading into this game, and Chris Sutton has shared his thoughts on what could happen on Sunday. He believes that even with the managerial change, the Blues will triumph and reach the final.
”I was at Amex Stadium on Tuesday, co-commentating on Rosenior’s final game in charge, and the lack of effort some of the Chelsea players put in against Brighton was more damning on them than their manager.” Sutton wrote in his BBC column.
”Rosenior was right when he came out afterwards and said the performance was “unacceptable” but, sadly, when a manager is so critical of his players you know that is usually the end for him.”
”It is left to Calum McFarlane to take charge for this game, and we will have to wait to see who he has fit – and then which Chelsea side will turn up.”
”Leeds beat Chelsea at Elland Road in December, and drew with them at Stamford Bridge in February.”
”Daniel Farke’s side are not completely safe yet but they picked up another really good point late on against Bournemouth on Wednesday, and they have got a lot about them. I am going for them to beat Chelsea at Wembley too.”

Daniel Farke’s side stand a real chance
Chelsea will be favourites because of the quality in their squad, but the fact that Leeds are unbeaten against them this season was no fluke. Daniel Farke won the tactical battle against Enzo Maresca at Elland Road. An in the clash at Stamfor Bridge, his substitutions changed the game and his side mounted a comeback. Everthing heading into this game shows that the Whites stand a chance. And they can capitalize on the fact that Chelsea have had a poor week, and will be under a lot of pressure heading into the game.
