Leeds United have completed a flurry of transfers over the last 48 hours as the club pursues more business towards the start of the new season. The Whites still have a lot of business to do in this window.

Hull City signed Joe Gelhardt on a permanent transfer.

The Tigers have had the forward on loan for the last 18 months, and have now closed the deal with Leeds earning some money.

Gelhardt has not been the only departure in the last few days, with Joel Piroe and Sebastiaan Bornauw’s recent departures.

Piroe was poised to be continuing this season at Elland Road until West Ham came knocking. The Hammers have signed the striker on loan with an obligation to buy if the London club win promotion.

Bornauw also joined HSV in the Bundesliga; the club wanted to add a defender in this summer window.

Nico Elvedi’s arrival at Elland Road opened the door for the Belgian to leave Leeds United. In his first interview since joining the German club, Sebastiaan Bornauw has spoken about his latest move.

“I was convinced from the very first moment during the talks with HSV,” he said (quotes via Hamburger Abendblatt).

“I could feel the trust the decision-makers placed in me, I love the emotion that surrounds a club with such a rich tradition as HSV. It gives me a lot of energy as a player. The fans can look forward to the fact that I will always give my all for my team.”

Leeds United never trusted Sebastiaan Bornauw

In his time under Daniel Farke, Sebastiaan Bornauw played a total of 17 games last season.

The Belgian racked up over 700 minutes in the first team, with most of them cameos off the bench and in domestic cup games.

Leeds only called upon the defender when first choice options like Joe Rodon and Jaka Bijol were injured. And in those games, Bornauw did show his quality to the fans.

He impressed in games against Liverpool and Manchester United.

But he was benched when the starters returned from injury. Sebastiaan Bornauw only started one Premier League game from March, which showed how little Farke trusted him.

Even in games where the team lacked cover at centre back, Daniel Farke trusted James Justin to play over him.

Bornauw will be glad to go to a club like HSV that will give him a chance at playing regular football next season.
