Reports have emerged as the season has gone on that Leeds United could be in the market for a new striker. The club signed only three attackers in the last summer window.
Daniel Farke has navigated this season with Noah Okafor, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha carrying the attack. Which came as a bit of surprise to fans as they initially criticized the signings of all these players. But they have all played massive roles in the campaign so far; Okafor and Calvert-Lewin are the two top scorers in the team, and Nmecha has provided a solid option off the bench.
Former Premier League chief criticizes Leeds United transfer target
But heading into next season, it seems like the Whites want more firepower in the front line. Juventus star Lois Openda and Feyenoord striker Ayase Ueda have been linked with moves to Elland Road.
But with Leeds United being recently linked with Leicester City star Jordan James, former Everton chief Keith Wyness thinks the move is a bad idea. He does not believe the 21-year old can offer anything to the current team.
“Whilst he’s done alright in a poor team at Leicester, I don’t see him being a vast improvement for Leeds.” he told Football Insider.
“He would be more for one of the clubs coming up or for a club in the top of the Championship sort of level. It depends on what price he’s going to go for, but there would be a risk coming into an established Premier League club.
“Leeds will be looking for more experience and a bigger quality, more established presence in midfield, if they’re going to push on. You need three teams if you’re in the Championship, one to get up, one to stay up, and one to kick on in the Premiership. Leeds are now in that final phase of trying to kick on.
“Whilst Jordan James is a talented player and may suit somebody, I don’t think he’s going to be a good fit for Leeds.”

Keith Wyness is right
The best attackers in this Leeds team are high calibre players – Dominic Calvert-Lewin has a lot of Premier League experience, and Noah Okafor is a Swiss international who has played in Europe’s top leagues. The backups are also accomplished; Lukas Nmecha was a solid option signed from the Bundesliga and Joel Piroe was the top scorer in the Championship last season.
Looking at these players, there is no way anyone can justify bringing James Jordan to Elland Road. He is 22 years old and is a decent talent, but he does not match up to anyone currently at Elland Road. 11 league goals this season is impressive, but he has 10 total goals in his last four campaigns. And besides all of that, Leeds have a better player in Harry Gray in the wings, a deal for Jordan will make no sense.
