Leeds United have the perfect chance to bounce back after their disappointment in the FA Cup. The Whites were knocked out after losing to Chelsea in the semi-final.
Now they have to set their sights back on the Premier League, where they face Burnley on Friday night. Daniel Farke was unfortunate to lose the game, and the injury doubts after have been complicated. Leeds could be without Noah Okafor, Jaka Bijol and Gabriel Gudmundsson for the game at Elland Road.
Friday’s visitors Burnley are not in great shape either; after being officially relegated, Scott Parker was sacked. Interim boss Michael Jackson will be in the dugout for their upcoming game.
Alan Shearer gives verdict on Leeds vs Burnley game
Leeds will be careful, as the last time Farke faced an interim boss, he lost to Calum McFarlane at Wembley. However, this weekend seems like a straightforward result for the home side. Alan Shearer has backed the Whites to win against the Clarets and thinks they can clinch their survival this weekend.
“I think Leeds will stay up and beat Burnley on Friday. I think all of those teams, particularly Leeds, seem as if they’ve got a bit of momentum and found form at the right time. I think it’s been there for a couple of weeks now.” he wrote in his Metro column.
“I don’t think Leeds will go down, and I think if they win this weekend, which I expect them to, then that’ll be enough for them, and they can all relax. Not have a party, but they can all relax.”

A win could put the Whites in the driving seat
Alan Shearer is right, a win could put Leeds in a very favourable position ahead of the weekend. They play before both Spurs and Nottingham Forest, who have very difficult fixtures. Looking at the home side’s form at Elland Road, there is confidence that they can get a result against this Burnley side. But they must cut out any complacency and go all out for the win. Three points on Friday will be crucial, as Leeds’ next two games are against Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton. Spurs are fighting to survive, and the Seagulls are still in with a chance of making Europe – there will be a lot at stake in both matches.
