Joe Rodon set to join Leeds United on a permanent deal

Leeds United are set to make Joe Rodon’s loan deal officially permanent this January.

Leeds sit in fourth place in the Championship, seven points off automatic promotion. The club are set to push for reinforcements this January as Daniel Farke eyes Premier League football next season.

The German coach has been calling for additions In January, and the permanent signing of Joe Rodon could be the start.

Rodon has been a key part of the Leeds backline, having featured in 23 league games so far – his consistency at the back has seen him bench club captain Liam Cooper.

HITC journalist Graeme Bailey shared his insights on the transfer plans at Elland Road this January, confirming that Djed Spence would return to Tottenham.

When talking about the Welsh defender, Bailey had this to say to One Leeds: “It’s one I’ve heard. I believe that’s on the agenda, I think it’s something they will look at.

“Do they need to do it in January? I think he’s done well, he’s impressed and Daniel Farke is happy with him, I think it’s on the agenda, I don’t think it’s one that is top of the agenda.

“Probably some incomings and outgoings they need to do first, but I think that is on the agenda and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if that gets done. I do know it’s one they are looking at.”

It is important that Leeds United sort out their arrivals in the January window very early considering the rumours around the club concerning departures.

In recent days; Luke Ayling, Wilfried Gnonto, and Liam Cooper have all been linked with moves away from the club.

Joe Rodon signing would be great news for Leeds

The defender has had a lovely start to life in the Championship and has said he enjoys his time at the club. It was only a matter of time before the club’s hierarchy made the deal permanent.

This is a huge statement as the fans have been calling for this signing in recent months after Rodon’s stellar performances at the back.

This defensive reinforcement is very timely as rumours of both Luke Ayling and Liam Cooper leaving the club in the coming months grow.

Rodon and Struijk have formed a formidable partnership at the back, and Leeds fans would be delighted that the duo will form the core of the team for the future.
