“Leeds are number one” – Jason Cundy stuns everyone with unexpected admission

Leeds United had some big expectations coming into this season. A handful of pundits tipped them to do better than last year.

Farke’s remarkable turnaround around December saw the team go on an incredible run. They picked up enough points and then they got some crucial wins towards the end of the season to guarantee safety.

After the season they had, the 49ers decided to go all in. They pulled the big guns out and signed James Trafford, Harry Wilson and Tarik Muharemovic.

Keeping the core of the team together while making improvements to positions in the squad raised their level even before a ball was kicked.

And their impressive start to the campaign before the international break convinced more people.

Simon Jordan even tipped the Whites to sneak into Europe, given the fact that games will come in thick and fast for most of the clubs in UEFA competitions.

Daniel Farke’s side have had a little blip in form, winless in their last five games. But they still remain in 11th position; close to mid table.

Rory Jennings and Jason Cundy discussed Leeds United and their fans. They both ranked the Whites’ supporters top four among the league for ‘top-tier fanbases’.

“In fourth, I have got Leeds United”, said Rory Jennings.

Cundy: “Leeds are in my number 1 bracket.

“Let me tell you, the Premier League need Leeds United. They are one of the first clubs to play at Stamford Bridge after Covid.

“They [Leeds fans] were all scattered around everywhere.

“You need Leeds fans.”

Jennings: “You know, when they went down, I was quite happy; they got relegated at Stamford Bridge, and it was rough as anything.

“I wanted them to go down that day, but with hindsight, the fact that we lost them for 16 years, my match-going experience in my prime, we didn’t get Leeds.”

Cundy: “Elland Road, the vitriol and that place there, you know you are in a cauldron.”

Fans can help turn the season around

Calling this current run a crisis or saying it will get worse as the season goes on is unfair to Farke and the players.

They have gotten themselves out of very difficult situations in recent years.

The best thing the fan base can do is continue to provide that intimidating Elland Road atmosphere when Leeds have home games.

That helped them stay up last season, and can definitely do it again this time around.
