Leeds United’s recruitment last summer has played a huge role in ensuring that the Whites again remain in the hunt for promotion this season. Following their defeat in the playoff final, Leeds lost Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter in the transfer window. Leeds’ recruitment had to be spot on as those were big players for them last season and the men behind the scenes did an excellent job to strengthen Daniel Farke’s hands. Manor Solomon was one of the players who joined Leeds last summer and has turned out to be an excellent signing. He has come into his own since December and is now the first-choice starter on the left-hand side of the Leeds attack.
Manor Solomon missed almost the entire 2023/24 campaign due to a serious knee injury and last summer, Spurs were keen to loan him out to ensure that he got game time to return to full fitness.
Leeds needed a winger following the departure of Summerville and the Whites pushed ahead to secure a loan deal to take Solomon to Elland Road last summer.
There were question marks over him due to his previous knee injury and the winger even suffered a few niggling injuries this season, which forced him to miss games.
However, he got a chance to get into the starting eleven in December when Farke decided to drop Wilfried Gnonto following a sustained run of poor form and the Israeli has not looked back since then.
He is now the first-choice starter in the Leeds team and has made a major impact on games with goals and assists in the last few weeks.
It is no surprise that rumours have started over whether Leeds should try to sign him on a permanent deal from Tottenham at the end of the season.
Leeds mulling over signing Manor Solomon on a permanent deal
Solomon is looking at home in a Leeds shirt and is clearly enjoying being an important part of a team following his injury horror last season.
The winger has remained coy on his future at Leeds but the Whites certainly need to be in the Premier League if they have any chance of holding on to him.
Leeds sit at the summit of the Championship standings and are looking good to return to the top flight of English football at the end of the season.
If Leeds get promoted, the club will have a decision to make and it seems the murmurings have already started inside the Yorkshire giants over Solomon.
Journalist Graham Bailey has admitted that Leeds are considering securing a deal to sign the winger on a permanent deal but stressed a decision is still pending.
“He is doing very good and it is something being considered by the club”, Bailey told LeedsUnited.News.
“But I am told a definitive decision has not been made.”
Signing the Israeli should be the easiest decision if Leeds are in the Premier League
The reason Leeds have not made a call on Solomon is because they are still not guaranteed to be in the Premier League next season despite looking good for promotion.
Leeds would not want to tempt fate but if they get promoted, the decision to try and re-sign the winger on a permanent deal should be one of the easiest if he is keen to return to Elland Road.
Solomon has been one of the standout performers for Leeds since breaking into the starting eleven and he has been a model of consistency since then.
He has scored three goals and registered three assists in the last six league games and has been one of the best players in a Leeds team teeming with top performers.
Solomon has become a real threat from the left-hand side of Leeds’ attack and has combined beautifully with the forward line to score and create goals.
Against Coventry on Wednesday, he was again in top form and he was the one who latched on to the loose pass and provided the assist for Joel Piroe’s opening goal.
If Solomon continues to maintain his current level and leads the Whites to the promised land of the Premier League, there is no reason the club should not try to convince him to stick around beyond his current loan contract.
