Leeds United embarrass Everton again with latest confirmed signing – 49ers deserve massive credit

Everton Leeds United

Even when Leeds United brought in 10 new players in the summer, fans still complained that the window was not good enough. Especially towards the end when the club panicked after missing out on major targets.

The plan was to build the defence and midfield before finalizing plans in the attack. Leeds added a new goalkeeper, bought quality in defence and added two solid midfield additions in Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff. But in the final weeks of the summer window, they struck out on a lot of deals. The Whites missed out on Bilal El Khannouss, and Facundo Buonanotte turned them down for a move to Chelsea.

Fulham’s Harry Wilson was a major target they pursued on deadline day, but the London club pulled the plug a the last minute leaving Leeds empty handed.

Facundo Buonanotte chose Leeds United over Everton

Now, in January, the club have managed to pull off a huge signing – Facundo Buonanotte cut short his loan to come and join the Whites. According to Graham Smyth, the player pushed for a move as he backed himself to become a starter and key player at Elland Road. Leeds is now the perfect chance for him to turn his season around.

Reports have now emerged that the Brighton man turned down a deal from Everton before completing his move to Leeds United. Goodison News claim that the Toffees tabled an offer for the Argentine midfielder, but he did not think twice before making the move to Elland Road.

49ers have pulled off an incredible deal

Many fans will argue that this deal should have happened in the summer, but what is important now is that the 49ers have been bold and added reinforcements to the team. Buonanotte was a solid fixture for Leicester City in the Premier League last season. Even though the Foxes were a terrible side, the Argentine managed to stand out as one of their better players.

Facundo Buonanotte Last Season
Competition Games Played Minutes Goals Assists
Premier League 31 1,529 5 2
FA Cup 2 90 1 1
EFL Cup 2 97 0 0

Buonanotte can play wide and in central areas, and has the ability to change games with his dribbling and shooting ability. He is the kind of creative midfielder Daniel Farke has been looking to fit in this team for the past few seasons. And with a player who forced the move on his own, he will play like there is something to prove in a Leeds United shirt.

I’ve absolutely no idea why Everton would have bid . They have a number of positions to strengthen – as might be expected with half a window to do business – but this position isn’t one of them . Pinch of salt for that one I’d suggest
