Leeds United need a huge January transfer window. The Whites clearly lack quality in some areas and will need reinforcements if they want to remain in the Premier League.
January will be a very tricky time for Leeds, earlier this season, managing director Robbie Evans said that the club could outright avoid the winter window if necessary. The club is determined not to flout PSR regulations, as they had ”maxed out” their spending room under it. This season, the Whites have had a lot of problems in the attack even after adding Noah Okafor, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha.
Leeds cannot seem to finish their chances this season despite creating a decent number of opportunities. These misses have cost them crucial points in games they could have gotten a result from. Farke is now under serious pressure with the club just above the drop zone ahead of a nightmare run of games against Aston Villa, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool.
Leeds United transfer window predicted
The need for some firepower has been clearly seen on the pitch this season – the club’s top scorers in the league all have two goals each. A bit of creativity has also been lacking, though the Whites do create chances, they need someone who can provide that spark in difficult situations.
And if it comes down to selling players to fund transfers in January, there are quite a number of names that could be sold in order to do that. The 10 new additions in the summer left the squad a little bloated, with some players not even making matchday squads.
Leeds United predicted January signings
Daizen Maeda (£15m)
The Celtic man was a hot topic in the summer, with a lot of English clubs lined up to sign him after his 20-goal season. Maeda is a versatile option that can fit anywhere in the Leeds attack, and his reported price tag falls in line with the club’s recent signings. He is also good pals with Ao Tanaka and will jump at the chance of joining his international teammate at Elland Road.
Brandon Thomas-Asante (£12m)
Leeds could do with the Championship’s current top scorer – he can play out wide or up top, allowing Daniel Farke to use him in a variety of ways. He moved to Coventry City for around £2 million, so a fee of £12 million should be enough to sign him this January. Leeds will be pushing PSR rules to the limit at this point, but it will be worth the headache later if this man’s goals keep them in the Premier League.
| Club | Games Played | Goals |
|---|---|---|
| Milton Keynes Dons | 27 | 1 |
| Sutton United (loan) | 8 | 0 |
| Ebbsfleet United | 3 | 0 |
| Salford City | 114 | 27 |
| West Bromwich Albion | 76 | 21 |
| Coventry City | 58 | 16 |
Manor Solomon (loan)
Solomon reportedly has concerns about his time in Spain, with reports saying he is open to leave. He could force Spurs to end his loan deal, and Leeds could pounce on that to add some real attacking quality. The winger is loved by the Leeds squad and fanbase after his heroics on loan at Elland Road last season. Solomon will surely be keen on a move back to reignite his season, which to this point has been a disaster at Villarreal.
Leeds United predicted January sales
Illan Meslier (£5m)
The goalkeeper is sought after across Europe, many think the Frenchman has a lot of value considering his contract status. There are reports that he could leave in January instead of on a free transfer in the summer. Leeds will hope he does not begin pre-contract talks with foreign teams when the window comes around, which would see him leave for free at the season’s end. To ensure his signing on a cheap deal, a team is likely to throw a generous offer at Leeds to secure Meslier.
| Games Played | Clean Sheets |

Mateo Joseph (£7m)
Mateo Joseph has recently hinted at wanting out of Leeds permanently. The Spanish forward went on loan to Mallorca in the summer after he failed to report back for pre-season training with Leeds. His future looks away from Elland Road and much like Leeds did with Robin Koch in January 2024, they should come together with Joseph’s loan club Mallorca and agree a permanent switch early to allow the club more financial space to bring in new players. This will allow extra funds for Leeds to sign who they need to stay in the Premier League.
Joseph’s exit has hardly been noticed at Leeds despite the lack of goals this season. He failed when he was given the chance at the start of last season, looking off the pace and going missing in games. He was replaced up front by Joel Piroe, with the Dutchman ending the season as the Championship’s top scorer. Leeds should get around £5-10 million for Joseph given he is still young a regular for Spain under-21s.
| Player | Goals scored |

| Noah Okafor | 2 |
| Joe Rodon | 2 |
| Lukas Nmecha | 2 |

Leeds United need decisive January transfer window
If the Whites are able to have a window like this, it could go a long way to help their season. Leeds need goals and creativity, and players like Daizen Maeda and Brandon Thomas-Asante can provide that. Getting Manor Solomon would also provide a huge creative spark.
As for the departures, it is a no brainer to sell both Meslier and Joseph and cash-in while the club still have the opportunity to do so. Both are young players who have decent value in today’s market and have some clubs interested. Leeds need to move on from players like Meslier and Joseph and start a new chapter. The club have to be ruthless in January if they have any chance of staying in the Premier League this season.
