According to Tutto Mercato, Leeds United and Hull City are interested in signing Spezia goalkeeper Bartlomiej Dragowski.
With Karl Darlow out of action due to a thumb injury, and Illan Meslier suspended, young Kristoffer Klaesson had to deputise in goal against Birmingham City.
The Whites have now been linked with Spezia goalkeeper Bartlomiej Dragowski alongside a whole host of top flight European clubs according to Tutto Mercato.
The keeper is likely to leave Italy after being replaced by 32-year old Jeroen Zoet. With his contract set to expire in 2025, and the player looking to leave the club, Dragowski could be available on a cut price deal – he joined Spezia in 2022 for around €2 million.
Who is Bartlomiej Dragowski ?
Bartlomiej Dragowski is a Polish international currently playing with Serie B side Spezia. The 26-year old keeper comes with a wealth of experience for club and country, having featured at all youth levels and also senior level for Poland as well as having over a hundred games in Italian top flight football.
He arrived in Italy in 2016 as a highly rated goalkeeping prospect, joining Fiorentina for around €2.5 million. He won Polish league Goalkeeper of the Year as well as Discovery of the Year awards which led to his big move to Italy.
Dragowski went on to make 81 appearances for Fiorentina before joining Empoli on loan in 2019. He moved permanently to Spezia in 2022.
Will he be a good fit at Leeds United?
The keeper is highly experienced having been in goal for one of the big names in Italian league football. He has played the role as a starting keeper and has also been a backup in his career so regardless of which role he will play at Leeds he will be a great fit.
At 26, he can also offer an experienced hand to the young keepers at the club in Illan Meslier and Kristoffer Klaesson.
What happens to Illan Meslier?Â
Meslier is still Leeds’ number one keeper. Joining the club at a very young age and helping lead them to the Premier League is no small feat. His first season in the Premier League was so good that he was touted as one of the keepers to replace World Cup winner Hugo Lloris in the future.
Competition has never been new to the French stopper, he’s faced adversity before and came back strongly. Dragowski will have very good competition to keep him on his toes.
