Leeds United star greenlights Elland Road exit despite Farke’s transfer decision

Leeds United have already bolstered Daniel Farke’s squad with the signing of Harry Wilson on a free transfer and are now on the verge of completing a ÂŁ34m move for Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemovic.

The Whites have agreed a deal with the Serie A club, and the 23-year-old underwent his medical on Thursday after arriving in England ahead of the transfer’s completion.

But while the focus has understandably been on another marquee signing, Leeds are also facing a growing problem behind the scenes, with one key first-team player now keen to leave before the transfer window closes.

The club are expecting several departures this summer following Isaac Schmidt’s exit, but losing this particular player could leave Daniel Farke with a major headache unless Leeds can bring in a suitable replacement.

Leeds United star greenlights transfer despite Daniel Farke decision

Daniel Farke has already bolstered his forward line with the arrival of Wilson, and Muharemovic will replace Pascal Struijk in the team once the transfer is finalised.

The Leeds boss is looking to add one more midfielder, a number 10, a striker and potentially a back-up left-back, if the budget permits.

However, the German is facing a mini crisis in one huge area of the squad, and that was triggered by the departure of Karl Darlow, who joined Manchester United.

The situation could become even more complicated if Lucas Perri gets his wish, with Tuttosport (via Tutto Mercato) reporting that the Brazilian has given the green light to a move to Torino.

The player is keen on a move to Serie A this summer and has already reached a verbal agreement with Torino over a transfer.

Daniel Farke has put a hold on any deal for Perri’s exit until a replacement is brought in. However, the Brazilian is now actively pushing to leave Elland Road.

Leeds need two goalkeepers if Lucas Perri leaves

Leeds United were already planning to sign a new goalkeeper before Karl Darlow turned down a new contract and joined Manchester United on a free transfer.

Lucas Perri had also been expected to leave Elland Road this summer, but Darlow’s departure has complicated those plans.

Alex Cairns is not seen as a ready-made replacement. The experienced stopper is yet to make a senior appearance for Leeds and is currently viewed as the club’s third-choice goalkeeper.

That leaves Leeds needing two new signings between the sticks before they can seriously consider sanctioning Perri’s departure.

For that reason, the Brazilian’s proposed move to Torino is far from straightforward. Unless Leeds can recruit two goalkeepers before the transfer window closes, Perri may have to remain at Elland Road for at least another season.
