Leeds United transfer budget for the summer revealed – Fans will be pleased

Leeds United managed to top their season off in the best way possible, by winning the Championship. A season with 100 points, a league title and Premier League promotion is all the fans could ask for.

Leeds won the title on the final day in the most dramatic way possible. They got off to a bad start as Plymouth took the lead. Sam Byram was unfortunate to put the ball into his own net as he gave the opponents the lead. The half time team talk must have been the trick; as Wilfried Gnonto equalized early in the second half.

Then Manor Solomon, who had been one of the best players during the run in, stepped up and scored the winner.

Leeds United to spend this summer

After the title celebrations began, Leeds chairman Paraag Marathe came out to address the team and the fans. He ended weeks of speculation, as he backed Daniel Farke as coach for next season. In his speech, he also mentioned that he will do everything possible to help the club stay in the top flight. This includes a huge transfer budget for this summer:

“Together we are going to build the best squad we can with every penny we are allowed to spend to compete in the Premier League. I’m under no illusions that it’s going to be easy. I know all the stats, that last season’s three promoted clubs went right back down.”

According to Football Insider, the figure for this summer has been revealed. Leeds United will reportedly have £150million to spend. This figure is expected to be available for signings and wages only.

Is £150million enough for a newly promoted club?

The figure should be more than enough, considering all factors. None of the clubs that were promoted this season spent more than that amount. This figure does not factor possible sales, and player exits, which will add more funds and allow higher wages. The club is expected to sell a few players this summer.
