Marc Roca set for talks with Spanish side

Leeds United loanee Marc Roca has confirmed that Real Betis are preparing to enter negotiations to sign the midfielder from Elland Road permanently.

Roca joined Betis from Leeds United earlier this season after a quiet start to his career a year ago. The midfielder joined from Bayern Munich as part of a host of new signings under former coach Jesse Marsch. However after a bright start to life in England, the midfielder failed to impress and was dropped by Sam Allardyce at the tail end of the season.

After Leeds were relegated, Roca was not keen on staying in England. Betis Sporting director Ramon Planes revealed the player was in contact with the club throughout the summer.

Roca spoke to PTV Sevilla (via Sport Witness) about his future, including the prospect of a permanent move to Spain:

“It is true that we are in contact with the club. Let’s see how everything evolves. It is also my representative’s job to reach an agreement… Then Betis has to talk to Leeds.

“I am very comfortable hereI have fit in very well with the team, within the dressing room, I am happy in my day-to-day life, enjoying it on the pitch… We’ll see. We will see how the negotiations progress, but I am very comfortable here and very happy. It’s not easy to sign here and that’s it.

“There are many contracts, interests of each club, each one tries to get the most out of it… I’m waiting, watching from the outside. I don’t want to get involved either. My job is to train hard, try to contribute when it’s my turn to play and that’s what I dedicate myself to. With the trust I have with my agent, I let him do his job.”
