Leeds United began last season with four goalkeepers in the first team. The 49ers went out and added Lucas Perri for a huge fee after the events of the promotion campaign.
Daniel Farke benched Illan Meslier following a series of errors that nearly cost the club their Premier League place.
Perri coming in was expected to be the end of the club’s goalkeeping issues. And the Brazilian’s start to life at Elland Road was very promising after the first few games.
However, a mixture of injury and poor form cost him his place in the team.
Karl Darlow once against stepped between the posts and gave Leeds the stability they needed till the end of the season.
The club knew they had a problem going into this summer with three of their four first team keepers out of contract.

Leeds United declined offering Illan Meslier a new contract at Elland Road, ending his seven-year stint at the club.
Darlow and Cairns both received new offers in order not to lose them as free agents.
Then the problems arrived for Leeds, as Darlow turned down a deal to join Manchester United. Alex Cairns decided to extend his stay at Elland Road and remain a reserve keeper.
James Trafford has since been brought in to become the Whites’ long term number one, which meant Lucas Perri had to find a new club this summer.

After the Brazilian agreed terms with Torino, Leeds proceeded to find a new backup keeper. They landed on Michael Zetterer, but had a difficult time reaching personal terms.
Sky reporter Florian Plettenburg has reported that both parties have now reached a full agreement.
Zetterer flew to England on Friday to have direct talks over a move after Leeds and Frankfurt agreed a deal with a transfer fee. The keeper will undergo a medical and will join as backup to Trafford this season.

Will Leeds have enough time to secure other signings?
If the 49ers want a few signings in before deadline day, then they have the weekend to do so.
As things stand, there are just four days until the transfer deadline. Leeds have signed four players this summer, which may not seem like a lot, but they are quality additions.
Trafford, Elvedi, Muharemovic and Wilson significantly improve the first team.
But there are some areas of the pitch that need to be addressed in the market. Whether the club will be able to fill those holes in the team before Tuesday is up to how fast the recruitment team can work.
