In his first press conference as Leeds boss, Sam Allardyce says in terms of coaching knowledge, he is as good as the best in the league.
Allardyce was announced as the new Leeds boss replacing Javi Gracia in the early hours of Wednesday. Gracia was sacked after a poor run of form that saw The Whites pick one point from five games.
The club board held “crisis” talks after Leeds’ 4-1 defeat to Bournemouth on Sunday. The result of the meeting was the departure of Head Coach Javi Gracia, and Director of Football Victor Orta.
During his first press conference this afternoon, when asked about his ability to coach a Premier League team in 2023, Big Sam says he is as good as the league’s best:
“There’s nobody ahead of me in football terms. Not Pep, not Klopp, not Arteta. They do what they do, I do what I do. But in terms of depth of depth of knowledge, I am up there with them. I am not saying I am better than them, but I am as good as them.”
Allardyce’s first game is against Manchester City on Saturday.
