Leeds United went down 2-0 at the Vitality Stadium as Bournemouth continued their brilliant run of form and produced a professional performance at home.

Evanilson opened the scoring for Bournemouth after a costly error from Leeds goalkeeper James Trafford, giving the visitors a lead.

Leeds huffed and puffed and had 56 per cent possession but had only one attempt on target at the Vitality Stadium. Amine Adli scored in injury time to seal the points.

However, Leeds’ frustration in the final third was perfectly captured just before normal time when Sean Longstaff frustratingly reacted to a poor decision by one of his teammates.

Longstaff was furious with Brenden Aaronson

Sean Longstaff famously scored a late equaliser against Bournemouth last season and took up good positions after coming on in the second half.

He had a shot deflected away from the goal and was prepared to take a chance to get Leeds back into the game. However, his reaction just before normal time explained the side’s frustrating afternoon.

Brenden Aaronson ran into the box from the right flank and tried to deliver a driven cross, which a Bournemouth defender inevitably blocked.

However, Longstaff had taken up a perfect position at the edge of the box for a cutback, which could have produced an attempt on goal.

The Leeds midfielder was absolutely furious with Aaronson’s decision to put in a driven cross, which had little chance of finding a Whites player when he was standing unmarked at the edge of the box.

His reaction to Aaronson perfectly captured some of the frustrating decisions the Leeds forward made in the final third.

Longstaff was at fault for the second goal

However, the Leeds midfielder could not blame anyone for the mistake that led to the clinching goal in injury time.

He took too much time on the ball before Leeds cleanly dispossessed him just a few yards from the box. Bournemouth still had to play well and find those right passes for Amine Adli to score the 95th-minute winner.

Longstaff was trying to decide on the right forward pass but took too much time, and Bournemouth punished him by clinching the goal that sealed all three points.
