Daniel Farke’s Leeds United lineup on Saturday was a clear sign of which team is likely to start the Premier League next week. In the coming days, the Whites will be pushing to strengthen the squad for another campaign.

Leeds have had very impressive performances throughout the summer.

Their tour of the US saw them lost just one game, and they have been unbeaten on their return to the UK. In the space of a week, the two games at Elland Road have produced a combined six goals against German Bundesliga opposition.

Daniel Farke will no doubt be pleased with how his team has done in the friendlies.

Many fans believed the team that started against Augsburg will be the same lineup that will face Nottingham Forest.

West Ham close in on signing Leeds United star

This means some players will definitely be on their way out as the transfer window draws to an end.

Leeds United striker Joel Piroe has managed just 14 minutes in the club’s last four games this summer; and that was a cameo after the team were 3-0 up against Augsburg in the second half.

The striker said earlier this summer that he wanted to stay and establish himself with the first team.

Things changed pretty quickly over the weekend after The Athletic revealed the uncertainty over his future.

West Ham have now made their move, and have pushed for a transfer deal for the striker. According to ExWHUEmployee via The West Ham way, the London club are in advanced talks to sign Piroe.

It is believed that a deal can be sealed on Monday.

Voetball International reporter Joost Blaauwhof has also confirmed the news, adding that a medical has been scheduled.

Leeds could part ways with the striker in the next 12 hours.

The fine details of the transfer are being finalized, and Piroe could join the Championship club this week.

Joel Piroe’s exit is the best decision for all parties

Since the start of last season, it was quite clear that Piroe was not in the team’s plans.

After Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha arrived, he lost his spot on the team. And the two new signings delivered on the pitch, making it hard to make a case for him.

The only resolution this summer was to find a way to sell him permanently.

A loan deal would cost Leeds money, as the striker is a free agent in 2027.

The 49ers have gotten a great piece of business for Piroe, who will be a suitable spearhead for any Championship side.

Now, the club can focus on getting reinforcements up front.
