’24 to 48 hours’ was the timeline Leeds United boss Daniel Farke gave for the club’s next arrival. The Whites had a very impressive weekend, strolling to a win over Augsburg.

The German side were no match for Leeds, who had put three goals past them before half time.

Anton Stach opened the scoring after just two minutes, and Tarik Muharemovic doubled the lead with an incredible acrobatic effort. James Justin and Dominic Calvert-Lewin combined with a lovely give and go for the fullback to add the third before half time.

The second 45 minutes of the game were very quiet as the game was out of reach.

Lukas Nmecha added the icing on the cake as he came up with the fourth goal to seal the game. Another huge win and a clean sheet for Leeds at Elland Road, as they wrapped up their pre-season in style.

Leeds United medical underway ahead of transfer deal

Farke was trying not to disclose too much after the game as the major transfer news had already been broken.

Since Thursday, it has been clear that Leeds United had lined up Gladbach defender Nico Elvedi as their next signing.

The Whites had already agreed to personal terms with the Switzerland international as of Friday. Saturday confirmed that both clubs had reached a fee over the transfer.

It was minutes later that Daniel Farke revealed that the timeline for the Elvedi deal was ’24 to 48 hours’.

On Monday, Sky reporter Florian Plettenburg confirmed that the 29-year old center back is undergoing a medical ahead of finalizing his transfer deal.

The fee is reported to be around £8.55 million, with reports including a 15% sell-on clause.

Nico Elvedi will be a solid addition to the Leeds backline

Daniel Farke has managed to land two defensive reinforcements despite losing a major starter early in the window.

Pascal Struijk left the club at the end of June, with Leeds landing Tarik Muharemovic. The Bosnian has shown early in his career that he will be a quality addition to the first team.

Elvedi’s arrival will see more competition in the back three, which will be a tough test for Farke.

The duo have worked together at Borussia Monchengladbach, and it is believed that the Leeds boss pushed for the move.
