Leeds United have a crucial game on Friday night when they host Burnley. The Whites have been almost flawless since their return from the international break.
Beating Manchester United and Wolves in consecutive games saw them go eight points clear of 18th place. And with the draw against Bournemouth, the Whites hit 40 points and most people tipped them to be out of the relegation battle. But with Spurs and West Ham picking up points, the picture at the bottom of the table has changed once again.
Just six points separate Spurs from Leeds ahead of Friday night. Now, there is importance attached to the game; winning could see Farke’s side mathematically clinch their safety especially with them playing first ahead of their rivals.
Chris Sutton makes Leeds vs Burnley prediction
Burnley will not be an easy team to beat; they managed to hold Manchester City to just one goal last time out. Even though they have been relegated, they will be a threat; they beat Leeds at Turf Moor in the reverse fixture.
The Whites seem to be heavy favourites heading into Friday, with Chris Sutton backing Farke’s men to win.
”Burnley are down and searching for a new manager, but Leeds go marching on together – they have had an outstanding campaign under Daniel Farke even if their performance against Chelsea in last weekend’s FA Cup semi-final was disappointing compared to their recent form.” he wrote in his BBC column.
”If Leeds lose this, then it is squeaky bum time for them with games to come against Tottenham and West Ham, but they won’t mess up.”
”For me, this is the result that will secure their safety. Yes, there would still be work to do, but if there ever was a gimme this season then it is playing Burnley at home.”
The Whites have Spurs and Brighton after the Burnley game, which means they will have to pick up points to prevent any slip ups.

Whites must win at Elland Road
The importance of this match must be clear; a win could guarantee safety. Three points would temporarily move the Whites nine points clear with three games to go. The rest of the teams around them will play later in the weekend and the pressure will be on. Any slip up from West Ham or Spurs would almost guarantee Leeds a place in the league next season. Everyone seems to be backing Leeds to survive, and so they must deliver in front of their home crowd.
