Leeds United are yet to sack Daniel Farke, and he will be in the dugout when they take on Manchester City at the Etihad. However, the club are looking at potential replacements, and Ange Postecoglou is now in the frame to become the German’s replacement.
A run of five defeats in six has largely made Farke’s position at Leeds untenable. The club have not made a move to replace him, but it is being seen as merely a stay of execution rather than any show of confidence.
With games against Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool lined up, Leeds are almost certain to sack him in the coming weeks, and the club are now just buying some time to line up a replacement.
Brendan Rodgers is believed to be one of the top contenders to become the next Leeds manager, and he is interested in the move. However, Postecoglou is now claimed to be in the running.
Ange Postecoglou has admirers at Leeds as they look to replace Daniel Farke
Postecoglou has already managed two Premier League clubs this season and was sacked by Nottingham Forest earlier in the year after just 39 days in the job.
However, he is still rated highly by some and ended Tottenham’s wait for a trophy by winning the Europa League at the end of last season.
According to talkSPORT, he is one of the top two contenders, alongside Brendan Rodgers, to become the next Leeds manager.
The Aussie’s commitment towards playing an attacking brand of football appeals to some, and he has admirers within the Leeds boardroom at the moment.

However, it is unclear whether he is ready to take charge of a third Premier League team so soon after getting sacked from Tottenham and Forest this season.
Leeds’ interest in Postecoglou is a surprise, given how he struggled at Forest, and the fact that the Whites do not have the quality forwards he need in the squad.
Rodgers is also seen as a major contender, and the two former Celtic managers are two top choices for the 49ers, who also hold the controlling stake at Rangers.
Farke will be gone soon
Farke spoke to the press earlier today and will be in the away dugout at the Etihad on Saturday when Leeds take on Manchester City. But he is now on borrowed time.
With more names getting linked with the Leeds job, it is now certain that the 49ers are actively looking at managers who could replace the German at Elland Road.
Talksport journalist Alex Crook also mentioned in his report that Leeds are not coming out and backing their manager at the moment.
He said: “We reached out to people at Leeds last night and we were told it was very much business as usual.
“Their press conference will go ahead as planned. But I think there is some substance to reports that Farke’s position is under threat.
“I went to the club and was told we’ve got nothing to say on this. So that was hardly coming out and backing their manager. Ultimately, he did end up staying.”
It is apparent that Leeds are now simply buying time to line up Farke’s replacement before finalising the decision to move on from him.
Unless Farke’s team produces something miraculous in the next couple of weeks, the Leeds manager will soon be somebody else.
