£8.6m rated Leeds United star to be handed Elland Road lifeline as sensational footage emerges

Leeds United have many talented players on their books that have not received much gametime under Daniel Farke this season.

Ao Tanaka and Willy Gnonto are prime examples of this, and the fact that they have been watching the majority of the season unfold from the bench is a testament to the squad depth Farke has at his disposal.

For this reason, the 49ers deserve immense credit, given that United’s squad was paper-thin when they were last in the top flight under Marcelo Bielsa.

Leeds also have multiple players on their books who are thriving during their loan spells away from Elland Road, with their performances perhaps being enough to persuade Farke to reintegrate them into his squad when they return to West Yorkshire in the summer.

Joe Gelhardt’s stellar season at Hull continues after wonderful free-kick

Gelhardt, 23, is currently in the midst of his second loan spell at Hull City after the young attacker failed to break into the team at Leeds under Farke.

The Englishman is enjoying an incredible season in the Championship with Hull, and Gelhardt’s campaign just became even more impressive after the Leeds loanee managed to curl in a spectacular free kick during Hull’s 2-1 away win against Wrexham last night.

This development in Gelhardt’s game may be enough to convince Farke that the attacker is worthy of a spot in United’s Premier League squad next season after the forward netted his 13th goal of the campaign.

With Transfermarkt valuing the youngster at around £8.6million, Gelhardt’s incredible form this season may end up pricing Hull out when it comes to securing his services permanently this summer.

Data confirms that Joe Gelhardt has been incredible so far this season

Along with the 13 goals he has scored in the 30 Championship appearances Gelhardt has made so far this season, he has also managed to notch four assists.

  • Gelhardt averages a goal every 172 minutes so far in the league for Hull this season
  • The forward also provides a creative spark, averaging 0.9 key passes per game
  • Gelhardt is also not afraid to contribute defensively, averaging 1.2 tackles per game (Sofascore)

If the Englishman can keep up this form from now until the end of the season, he may just have revived his career prospects at Elland Road that effectively looked dead and buried last summer.

However, even if Farke still does not fancy Gelhardt after his impressive campaign, Leeds could at least be in line to demand a handsome fee for the attacker in the summer.
