It has been a rollercoaster of a ride for Leeds United fans over the past few hours. Harry Wilson was officially unveiled at Elland Road, becoming the club’s first signing of the summer.

Fans had been eagerly awaiting this deal, which was initially announced by The Athletic over a week ago.

Wilson is now finally a Leeds player, and the team has kicked off their recruitment drive ahead of next season. The ownership proved their ambition by landing one of the league’s top targets.

The same day also saw Illan Meslier join Premier League holders Arsenal.

The French goalkeeper left Elland Road after spending over six years with the team. He made over 200 appearances, but lost his place last year and fell down the pecking order.

He has now been given a second chance with the London club.

Premier League sides join Leeds United in transfer race

Thursday also saw another huge blow for Leeds United, as Karl Darlow is set to join Manchester United.

The veteran keeper’s contract expired last week, and he had been taking his time considering options for his future. Darlow has now decided on a move to Old Trafford where he will work under Daniel Farke.

It has been known that Leeds’ priority target this summer is Southampton star Shea Charles.

The club have already had two bids rejected, with the Saints unhappy with the offers. They reportedly value him in excess of £20 million.

Leeds now have more competition, with Alex Crook confirming that Crystal Palace and Fulham have joined the race for the 22-year old. Charles is in the final year of his contract and is very open to leaving.

The Whites now have a battle on their hands to convince the Northern Ireland international to choose Elland Road.

Elland Road is the best option for young midfielder

Looking at the three clubs involved, it is obvious that Leeds is the best option.

Going to Fulham or Crystal Palace will see Shea Charles become a squad player and not a guaranteed starter. The midfielder should know that Leeds made him a priority for a reason.

The club is looking to revamp their team and add quality next season.

Elland Road will provide him with a direct path into the first team and allow him to grow and develop as well. The 49ers now have to make the deal a reality in the coming weeks.
