Leeds United made a positive start to the season, but the injury-time defeat at Fulham on Saturday has dented their confidence. The lack of quality in the final third came into the fore again, and there are now real concerns about the overall quality of their squad.
Gabriel Gudmundsson’s comical injury-time own goal handed Fulham three points and a second defeat in Leeds’ opening four games at Craven Cottage on Saturday afternoon.
Leeds seemed on their way to gaining a valuable point on the road this weekend. However, a corner in injury time led to a comical own goal from the Leeds new boy that meant the Cottagers returned from Craven Cottage with nothing to show for their efforts.
It was Leeds’s ninth straight Premier League defeat in London, but more worryingly, the Whites are yet to score a goal from open play, and their only goal came from a penalty in their opening day win over Everton at home.

Jason Cundy described the defeat for Leeds United as ‘brutal’

The defeat led to chatter around Leeds, and their chances of Premier League survival are in doubt despite only four games in the season.
However, the nature of Gudmundsson’s own goal came in for fierce criticism, and Jason Cundy conceded that the Leeds defender more or less buried it in the back of the net.
He is unsure about the defender’s thought process, and while he feels Leeds have done alright this season, the nature of the defeat at Fulham could hurt their confidence.
“Adrian Durham summed it up right, he buried. It was poor, and I don’t know what he was thinking”, Cundy said on talkSPORT.
“Leeds have done alright, but that was a brutal way to lose three points.”
Daniel Farke has a job in his hands to pick his team up
Leeds’ start to the season was seen as solid, but the defeat at Fulham has shifted perceptions, exposing concerns over their lack of goals.
Farke has already indicated that his team are lacking in quality at the moment, and may have to depend on their spirit to bail them out this season, unless they bring in more players in January.
Leeds will be travelling to the Black Country to take on Wolves next weekend, and it has become a must-win game for the Whites, this early in the season.
Wolves have lost all four of their opening league games, and Leeds will need to stretch that run to five next weekend to gain some confidence after the Fulham defeat.
Ok. So Gabby made a mistake. Is there a retired footballer out there that can genuinely say that haven’t in their career? Durham just needs to button it. Gabby needs consolation not condemnation
