Leeds United booked their place in the third round of the EFL Cup with a comfortable 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
Second-half goals from Dan James and James Justin were enough to send Daniel Farke’s side through to the next round.
It is the second time Leeds have beaten Forest in the space of just three days. The Whites secured a 1-0 victory in Saturday’s Premier League opener before coming out on top again in the cup.
Forest will be disappointed to suffer another home defeat to Leeds so soon after the first, but the hosts simply did not do enough on the night to deserve anything from the game.

Chris Wood makes huge claim about Leeds United
The former Leeds striker led the line for Forest against his former side tonight at the City Ground, and he came close to scoring against the Whites.
However, James Trafford produced an excellent save to deny him, with the striker admitting that on another night, the chance could easily have ended up in the back of the net.
Wood insisted that Forest were not perfect on the night, and Leeds were definitely the better team who played at a higher level than the home side.
Wood said on ITV: “It’s a game of fine margins. They took their chances at good times, and we didn’t create enough this evening.
“Mistakes happen in games; we are not perfect, but we have to get better because the level is not where it needs to be.
“When I hit it, I thought it was going in, but he has made a hell of a save. On another evening that goes in.
“We are not where we want to be; Leeds were the better team tonight, but we have another level that we need to get to.”

Leeds fans would want the 49ers to end the transfer window on a high
Leeds supporters will be hoping the strong start to the season encourages the club’s owner to finish the transfer window with a statement of intent over the next few days.
The Whites are still looking to bring in a goalkeeper, another striker and a left-back, while they could also consider adding another centre-back and winger.
Leeds have seen two loan offers for Mykhailo Mudryk rejected by Chelsea, but the club have not given up hope of reviving negotiations before the transfer window closes on September 1.
With the deadline fast approaching, supporters will be hoping Leeds can end the window on a high with a few more quality additions.
