Leeds United began last season with 10 new additions to the first team. The 49ers knew they had to build a formidable squad to withstand the Premier League and prepared for it.

The influx of multiple new signings was rocky at the start, but the team gelled near the mid point of the season.

It took Daniel Farke some tactical tweaks and changes to the lineup to get the best out of the squad. Leeds then mounted an impressive run of form into the second half of the season.

The points picked up were enough to help the team escape relegation.

With how this summer’s transfer window is going, the approach has been very different.

The focus last year was on getting quality players who could produce an impact for very affordable transfer fees.

Leeds United averaged around £10 million per signing on players last year.

Now, the focus seems to be on adding quality regardless of the price. The 49ers have brought in James Trafford on a record transfer, and added defender Tarik Muharemovic for £34 million.

Harry Wilson was a big free agent signing and Nico Elvedi cost well above his market value with the years on his deal when he left Germany.

With just a week left in the summer window, the 49ers are engaged in getting some deals across the line.

Mail Sport are reporting that Leeds United want to add four new players before the transfer deadline. The targets are a backup goalkeeper, a defender, a winger and a striker.

The club have already spent over £80 million and could surpass last year’s spend.

These last few days have made it clear some of the players Leeds United have in mind.

From last week, the Whites have been eyeing a move for Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk. A loan bid was rejected, and talks are now over, but the deal could be revived with Mudryk open to making the switch.

Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Michael Zetterer is also on the radar, but he seems keen to stay in Germany.

And as of Tuesday, reports have emerged that Leeds are in talks to sign RB Leipzig striker Conrad Harder.

The 21-year old is being courted by many clubs across Europe, including Galatasaray and Lazio. Leipzig are said to be open on keeping Harder, but things could change ahead of the deadline.
