In the final weeks of the Premier League season, news emerged about Leeds United and their summer transfer plans. The main point was that the Whites expect the start of the summer window to be very slow.

Since most players are at the World Cup, clubs will be reluctant to do business.

They would rather hold on to the player in hopes that his valuation increases as the tournament goes on. Leeds know that most of their transfer dealings will be done after the tournament ends.

Sporting CP defender Ousmane Diomande seems to be very high on the list at Elland Road.

Reports in Portugal claim that Leeds are ready to bid a record fee to sign the young defender. However, he is currently at the World Cup with Ivory Coast, so a deal is unlikely in the short term.

Southampton midfielder high on 49ers list

One player who did not make the World Cup is Northern Ireland star Shea Charles.

The Southampton midfielder has attracted a lot of suitors in the last few weeks, including Manchester United. TEAMtalk are now reporting that Leeds United are one of the favourites to sign the 22-year old.

Per the report, the Whites have been monitoring the young midfielder since his loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday two seasons ago.

It is believed that Leeds are impressed with the midfielder’s versatility, and view him as a player who can fit into the physicality of Daniel Farke’s side.

Charles has one year left on his deal, but Southampton are not keen on letting him go this summer. He is rated very highly by the club, who have slapped a price tag of £20 million on the former Manchester City youngster.

Leeds United could see key first team star leave

Per the report, it is believed that Leeds United midfielder Ilia Gruev could be the one who makes way if Charles joins.

The Bulgarian has been a solid backup option for the team, but has never really been viewed as an undisputed starter in this side. However, with one-year left on his deal, a departure looks likely.

With Leeds wrapping up Ethan Ampadu’s new deal, and the performances of Ao Tanaka at the tail end last season, Gruev could go down the pecking order.

Shea Charles would be a very useful signing for Daniel Farke, who appreciates physical players with technical ability.
