Leeds United confirmed another season in the top flight over a week ago after West Ham slipped up. Daniel Farke’s side will now have another year in the Premier League.

This campaign has many parallels with Marcelo Bielsa’s 2020 campaign. But Farke has warned the club not to repeat the same mistakes, asking for backing in the transfer market.

The Whites’ summer window could be partly funded from the fees involving a potential deal for Joe Gelhardt. Hull City booked their place in the top flight by winning the playoff final.

A late goal from Oli McBurnie was enough to send the Tigers to the Premier League for the first time since 2016.

A deal for Gelhardt will definitely be on the books as the club’s Sporting Director indicated that there is interest from all parties over a potential deal. The forward has impressed since joining the club in the second half of last season.

Joe Gelhardt will not be the only familiar face to Leeds fans if he does clinch a move to Hull City. Cody Drameh and Lewie Coyle are also former Leeds United players.

Drameh was signed by the Whites as a youngster back in 2021. He was highly rated and even played for England through the youth age groups. The defender only made five appearances for the senior team before departing in 2024 to join Hull City.

Lewie Coyle also began his career at Thorp Arch, staying at the club for 16 years. The 30-year old last played for Leeds in 2020 and made just 15 appearances for the West Yorkshire side.

How will Leeds fans receive the two players next season

Leeds United fans are loyal, and will always remember what you did for them. If the player left on bad terms and spoke ill about the club, then they will expect to receive some hostility.

Drameh and Coyle will be warmly welcomed, as will Joe Gelhardt if he does end up staying on the team.

However, the fanbase is always welcoming to players who had a good spell in the team. A perfect example was when Georginio Rutter played at Elland Road a week ago and was met with applause.

After the game he even took a quick lap and was appreciated by supporters. Elland Road is one of the best stadiums in England for a reason.
