Leeds United fans love to hate Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder, who has had a few run-ins with the Whites and Daniel Farke in the Championship.
The Sheffield United manager has earned the attention of Leeds fans this season by securing former Whites stars Patrick Bamford, Joe Rothwell and Kalvin Phillips.
Wilder was often a thorn in Leeds’ flesh over the seasons, as both teams have been in the running for promotion from the Championship in the last few years.
He also shares a long rivalry with Daniel Farke, who was his rival even when he was managing Norwich City, and the duo have had their fair share of controversies.
Chris Wilder explains his relationship with Daniel Farke
Sheffield United will take on Norwich later tonight, and Wilder has opened up about his relationship with former Canaries boss Farke over the years.
He insisted that he is good friends with the German and they often laugh at some of the things they got involved in previous years.
Wilder lavished praise on Farke for the job he did at Norwich and what he has been doing at Leeds since taking charge in 2023.
He conceded that he often started some of those controversial moments, and it is no surprise that Norwich fans do not like him.
Wilder told Sheffield United TV: “Always good battles, going back to Daniel [Farke].
“Every time I speak to Daniel, we have a little bit of a chuckle about it because we’re pals and he did a fabulous job there and is doing a fabulous job at Leeds United.
“There’s always that little bit of pantomime regarding the fixture started by me, I suppose. I think I start quite a lot of stuff!
“Nothing changes, two well-established clubs that have been in the Premier League and top-end Championship clubs.”
Wilder has a good record against Farke
Farke is focused on keeping Leeds in the Premier League, and Sheffield United and Wilder are not part of his thoughts at the moment.
However, his record against Wilder is mixed, and he often found playing against Sheffield United tough, whether as a Leeds or Norwich manager.
| Metric | Daniel Farke | Chris Wilder |
|---|---|---|
| Total Matches | 8 | 8 |
| Wins | 3 | 4 |
| Draws | 1 | 1 |
| Average Goals Per Game | 1.38 | 1.25 |
The Sheffield United boss has more than a decent record against a manager who has achieved promotion from the Championship three times with two different teams.
Wilder has won four of the eight games he has managed against Farke, losing three and drawing just one game.
Farke will hope that he does not have to take on Wilder any time soon, as he looks to keep Leeds in the top flight next season.
