Leeds United are just over a week away from their Premier League opener. Fans are ecstatic for the new campaign as the Whites have performed well in their pre-season so far.
It has been an interesting few games that the club have played in this offseason.
Leeds have only lost one friendly since the summer started; against Wrexham in the US. The club’s last game was a thrilling draw against Manchester United in Ireland.
The game ended 1-1 but Farke’s side lost on penalties.
The team have one more game at Elland Road, as they face Augsburg this weekend.
FA bring new rules to stamp out tactics after Daniel Farke outrage
Ahead of the new season officially kicking off this weekend with the Community Shield, new rules have been introduced.
The 2026/27 season will have a number of new laws, mostly designed to tackle tempo disruption and make the game quicker. These changes will be deployed across the English football pyramid.
Some new changes include countdowns for goal kicks and throw-ins, time-limited substitutions and injured players going off the pitch.
A new law will see a player leave the pitch for one minute when a goalkeeper goes down and calls for treatment. The outfield player that goes off will be decided by the coach.
This will be received warmly by Daniel Farke and Leeds United, after the events of last season.
In the game between Leeds and Manchester City in November, Farke accused City keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma of feigning injury to allow his team a tactical timeout.
“Everyone knows why he went down,” Farke said after the game.
“It is not the elephant in the room. Why he went down it was obvious. It is within the rules. It is smart. If I like it? If it’s within the sense of fair play? If it should be like this I will keep to myself. It is up to the authorities to find a solution.”
The incident was later tagged as ‘cheating’ by former referee Keith Hackett.

Leeds United were on the end of some ridiculous refereeing last season
This introduction will be a very good addition to English football.
Leeds experienced time-wasting from goalkeepers multiple times last season; in games against City, Sunderland and Chelsea in the FA Cup.
Outside that, the club were at the mercy of some terrible refereeing calls that cost them some games. The Key Match Incidents panel found that there were erros like a penalty that should have been awarded against Sunderland.
Gabriel Gudmundsson’s sending off after two yellows against Crystal Palace was also deemed the wrong decision.
Fans will be hoping Leeds United are on the end of competent refereeing decisions this year.
