Leeds United have made three signings this summer and are still hoping to add a few more players before the transfer window closes on September 2.
However, the club’s plans remain flexible, with the recruitment team ready to adjust their priorities depending on how the final weeks of the window unfold.
One change has already been forced upon them, with Sebastiaan Bornauw set to leave Elland Road after just one season. The defender is expected to complete a move to Hamburg in the coming days.
Bornauw’s departure has now created another position Leeds need to address, with the club keen to bring in a new centre-back as soon as possible.

With Sebastiaan Bornauw seemingly heading for the exit, Daniel Farke wants to bring in an experienced centre-back who can step in whenever required.
Leeds have been strongly linked with Borussia Monchengladbach defender Nico Elvedi throughout the summer, with the 29-year-old emerging as one of their options to replace Bornauw.
Elvedi impressed for Switzerland at the World Cup and is understood to be keen on the opportunity to play in the Premier League next season.
It emerged earlier this week that Leeds have revived their interest in the centre-back, but the pursuit has gathered pace in the last 24 to 48 hours.
The Whites have already agreed personal terms on a contract with the 29-year-old centre-back and are set to submit a bid soon.
According to The Athletic, Elvedi is more than likely to join Leeds from Borussia Monchengladbach before the end of the transfer window.
Gladbach are prepared to sell him for the right offer, and Leeds are expected to finalise an agreement for his arrival in the coming days.
With Bornauw on his way out, Leeds have lined up the arrival of Elvedi to ensure there are enough centre-backs in the squad for the season.
Nico Elvedi would be a solid signing for Leeds
Sebastiaan Bornauw was a decent option for Leeds, but the unfortunate part was that he simply did not get enough opportunities as a back-up.
Nico Elvedi would be a very solid replacement. He is an experienced defender who has played at a high level in one of Europe’s top leagues and, importantly, has previously worked with Daniel Farke.
A regular for Switzerland as well, Elvedi would bring plenty of experience and quality to Leeds’ defence. If the deal goes through, it would be another smart addition to the squad.
The 49ers have generally done a good job with recruitment over the past few seasons, and Elvedi could be the latest example. Leeds are clearly trying to improve on the side that finished 14th last season, which is important given how much several of their Premier League rivals have strengthened.
