Five players Leeds United could sell to boost their transfer budget

Regardless of how this season ends, one thing that is constant is that Leeds United will need reinforcements this summer.

The Whites are currently in the race for promotion to the Premier League with three games to go. Leeds are two points off automatic qualification after an outstanding season under new coach Daniel Farke.

If Leeds make it to the Premier League, the squad would need quality in order to survive. If the club fails to win promotion, they would then have to add new faces to challenge for promotion next season.

Here are five players Leeds United could sell to increase funds for this summer:

Crysencio Summerville

Arguably the standout player of the season in the Championship, the forward has 17 goals and eight assists to his name. Summerville has been fantastic since breaking into the first team in 2023.

The Dutch forward was courted by many European teams last summer before he agreed to remain at Elland Road. A player like that would command a sizable fee especially with some Premier League and Champions League clubs lurking.

Patrick Bamford

Bamford has lost out on his place in the team after Joel Piroe was brought in and club record signing Georginio Rutter found his feet in England.

The veteran striker would be an ideal piece for any club in the championship looking to add experience to their front line.

Bamford has had injury troubles over the past year, but when fit and firing he is genuinely one of the better strikers in England’s second tier.

Charlie Cresswell

The youngster has found himself out of favor this season after an impressive loan spell at Millwall last year.

For some reason, Farke is reluctant to rely on the 21-year old despite Cresswell being touted as one of the best young defenders in the country.

Clubs were interested in loaning the defender during the January window, but a deal failed to materialize. Cresswell would command a healthy fee as he is highly rated in England.

Another youngster out of favour at Elland Road this season. Joffy broke into the first team around the same time as teammate Summerville but the duo have taken different paths since then.

Gelhardt is a young forward with a lot of potential, and a lot of championship clubs would be fighting to sign him.

Darko Gyabi

The 20-year-old had a decent loan spell at Plymouth before his time was cut short due to injury. Gyabi was brought in from Manchester City as a highly rated young midfielder.

Unfortunately, he has found himself behind a whole host of midfielders this season. And it looks like nothing will change between now and next year. Gyabi is young and needs playing time, a move away from Elland Road would be best for all parties.
