Leeds hold “genuine interest” in discounted Bundesliga ace

Leeds United will know that in order to ensure they become an established Premier League outfit, they will need to strengthen their squad even further should they remain in the top-flight come the end of the season.

This now looks more and more likely as Daniel Farke’s men picked up a massive three points yesterday at Elland Road, defeating Wolves    3-0 to make it back-to-back league wins for the first time this season.

With Tottenham conceding a 95th-minute equaliser to Brighton courtesy of Georginio Rutter, the gap between United and the bottom three sits at eight points with just five Premier League games remaining.

But if Leeds managed to secure the services of some of the players they are linked to this summer, then perhaps next season, they will be sat comfortably in mid-table by the time April rolls around.

Leeds eye swoop for Wolfsburg’s Mohamed Amoura

Leeds supporters will be familiar with Amoura after their side were linked to the 25-year-old during the January transfer window, although a move to West Yorkshire ultimately never materialised.

According to reports from French outlet L’Equipe, Leeds, alongside Everton, will pursue a move for the forward this summer.

The report states that Leeds’ “genuine interest” in Amoura will “remain so next season” as the Whites could be in line to secure his services for a discounted fee.

Initially, the Bundesliga outfit wanted around £34.8million for their asset, but now it seems as though Leeds could secure the signature of Amoura for a discounted £26.1million.

Amoura, who is capable of playing up top or just off the striker as well as out wide, would give Leeds some much-needed depth in that area, particularly when you consider they are likely to sell Joel Piroe in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Data suggests Mohamed Amoura would be a solid addition for Leeds

Although Dominic Calvert-Lewin got back to his goalscoring ways in the Premier League against Wolves yesterday, Leeds will know they need multiple players in forward areas who can chip in with goals.

Noah Okafor has certainly been doing this as of late, but aside from that, Leeds’ wingers have struggled to put up good numbers this season when it comes to goals or assists.

Amoura would seemingly fix this issue, with the Algerian having some impressive output across his two seasons in the Bundesliga.

  • This season, Amoura has eight goals and three assists in 27 Bundesliga appearances
  • Last campaign was even better for the forward; however, Amoura boasted an impressive 10 goals and nine assists in 31 Bundesliga appearances (Sofascore)

Amoura’s positional flexibility and seemingly discounted market value will certainly make him an option the 49ers will consider when it comes to their recruitment this summer, but whether the Algerian can adapt to the Premier League remains to be seen.
