Leeds United took a huge step towards avoiding relegation on Saturday afternoon. Daniel Farke’s side had the huge task of following up their performance at Old Trafford this weekend.

In a crucial game at home against Wolves, Farke’s men were expected to deliver a win. And within 20 minutes, the Whites had exceeded expectations. Noah Okafor and James Justin had put Leeds 2-0 up within 20 minutes of the game and everything was running smoothly.

The home side dominanted possession and had most of the ball, but the second half was very slow. Leeds seemed to take their foot off the gas and allow Wolves to come back into the game. But a late penatly from Dominic Calvert-Lewin in added time put the icing on the cake in a solid 3-0 win at Elland Road.

Former Leeds hero delivers huge moment

Last week, it was Leeds playing last among the teams near the bottom of the table. But on Saturday, the Whites played first, putting pressure on the rest. And this was very telling when Tottenham played minutes after the Leeds clash.

In a must-win game in front of their home crowd, they stood up to the task, scoring early. Brighton pulled one back just before half time. Late in the second half, Xavi Simons thought he had decided the game for Tottenham with a goal that sparked the crowd. But deep into the game, near the death, Brighton equalized. It was former Leeds man Georginio Rutter with the goal that broke Spurs fans’ hearts at their home stadium.

Tottenham dealt huge blow in relegation battle

Things just seem to be getting worse for Tottenham, who are on their third manager this season. De Zerbi is yet to record a win, and he looks to be struggling picking up the pieces after Igor Tudor’s tenure. Now Spurs must wait till tomorrow’s fixtures, when West Ham and Nottingham Forest play. They are currently in the bottom three, two points from safety as their rivals have a game in hand.

Leeds on the other hand will be glad they were able to secure another win today. They are eight point clear of the bottom and have confidence heading into their difficult run of fixtures. Daniel Farke also welcomed back Joe Rodon, who was expected to be out injured for the rest of the month. Leeds United will have every belief that they can avoid relegation this season.
